“A Border is a Filter” PLOT vol. 5, CCNY MLA Program, Spring (2016) 34-39.

This documentary of aspects of the border landscape between the U.S. and Mexico counters the current hyperbolic political rhetoric calling for a wall as an absolute secure barrier. The “wall” represents a human desire to dissociate their territory from chaotic forces.

The photographs taken along the existing wall in southern Arizona reference uncontained violence and convergence across a political line. The photo montages filter dual images from the borderlands through a mandala—a two-dimensional idealized representation of the cosmos as a spatial continuum.
